Senior Accountant (Group Finance)

Senwes is seeking the services of a dynamic Senior Accountant who will be responsible for professional accounting work and preparation of accounts, trial balance, financial statement, prepare budgets and forecasts, and conduct financial analysis and interpret variances across different business units or company wide joint ventures.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

* Five years relevant accounting experience including articles
* Relevant BCom Accounting-degree (SAICA/SAIPA articles). Candidates who are newly qualified CA’s or studying towards becoming a CA will receive preference

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

* Manage budget and forecasts. This includes:
- Test expenditure against policy/budget and provide insight on reason for variance
- Test income against budget and provide insight
- Analyse and recommend savings in expenditures
- Report variances
* Prepare financial and CAPEX budgets (annually) and forecasts (quarterly)
* Analyse and interpret budget and forecasts (daily/monthly)
* Present budget and forecasts to management
* Take own initiative to improve budget processes to increase accuracy of budget and effectiveness
* Management and operational reporting/authorisation
* Identify deviations to policies and procedures and implement improved control environment.
* Test accuracy, classification and existence of transactions
* Review balance sheet reconciliations
* Ensure proper reconciliation and review of balance sheet accounts and certain income statement accounts
* Reconciliation of reports to operating systems
* Test the correct accounting treatment of new business processes
* Cash flow projection
* Advise and coach business managers on control improvements
* Conduct diligent management of all sundry accounts
* Ensure that a business case is in place for all relevant project
* Post implementation of projects: evaluate financial performance of project against business case presented.
* Providing necessary information to auditors and assist in relevant enquiries
